Rainy day wedding {gumboots essential} by Bayly & Moore

Here we are at Monday again so quickly... but for most of you it's a four day week right? Not so when you work from home I can assure you! But I do get the husband home for four days over Easter which is a good thing!! He's actually promised to cook for me over the entire long weekend so I'll keep you posted as to how well he sticks to that! So if you just pretend it's Tuesday, the week just got that much better hopefully!! Before I sign off I just want to wish my Mum a very happy birthday!!!
Looking at the fun in these photos might have brides reconsidering the pre-wedding weather panic! I think these are possibly some of the best rainy wedding day images I've seen and I can't imagine how they could have had better photos had the sun been shining! You can't control Mother Nature, so the best alternative is to embrace it, and that's exactly what Kate & Dave did when a cyclone put an end to their plans of a sunny outdoors wedding at their home in the Whangaripo Valley. Photographers Bayly & Moore did an amazing job of capturing their day... considering the inclement conditions they were dealing with (see that water on the floor of the reception!). Loving the gumboots!!

Sofia from Bayly & Moore tells us a bit more about the wedding... (after reading this I realised I had read about this in our local paper... telling about some poor guests who had brand new cars completely ruined from the event!)

Kate has her own store for vintage/antique interiors so naturally their house of full of great pieces with loads of character. They had planned for a sunny wedding but cyclone Wilma decided to hit on the day of their wedding so it was torrential rain virtually the whole day. This didn't seem to dampen the mood at all, all the guests and bride & groom had a blast despite the weather. At about midnight people started leaving and then coming back because they couldn't get through the flooding, taxis couldn't get to them and so it was a lock down and they had 30 guests stranded with no gear sleeping on every surface in the house! The water rose up to the teepee! Cows from 2kms up the road swam into their paddock and the guys spent four hours on kayaks and surf boards pulling cows out of trees! Four cars were written off (including theirs).... they were front page of the local paper.

Thanks to Bayly & Moore for sharing this fabulous wedding with us... and to Kate & Dave; wishing you all the very best!

It's nice to see that a bride and groom just embrace the weather and do not worry too much about it. What can you do anyway?
