Handmade Wedding by Jel Photography

When I saw that the bride in today's wedding was called Willow... well I just had to feature it of course, it was a no brainer!! Such a pretty name. And of course it didn't hurt that it a was a cute wedding with a tonne of handmade DIY touches and oodles of personality. I am also thrilled to be featuring a wedding from husband and wife team, Eleanor & James from Jel Photography for the first time. We sat down over coffee a few weeks ago and I can vouch for the fact that they are just as lovely as their photography! Over to Eleanor to share some of the details with us...

"Willow + Johnny's wedding was held in Howick and was a photography treat because of all the different details and props. Many of the details (signing of the registry table, bottles, leave us a note props etc), Willow found lying around her Mums house and fitted right into their DIY (or as Willow described it), 'handmade touch to everything possible' wedding. They also wanted the wedding to be low-impact on the environment so there were lots of handmade/recycled items, plans and bubbles to blow at the end of the ceremony. Willow wanted her bouquet to look as though it had been picked fresh from a wild field of flowers and she wore green flats, perfect for running around in fields of flowers and sheep.

We stopped off for photos at various locations around Howick and went to Cornwall Park specifically to get photos with the sheep. We were treated to photos with their great dane puppy Abbey, were serenaded by them playing their instruments together and had Willow's box of props to play with which included a sign, glasses, scrabble letters and a Star Wars storm trooper helmet!! It was such a fantastic day for us, visually as well as the experience - their wedding was fun, carefree, relaxed and so inspiring from a photographers point of view. It just shows you that you can do everything yourself and it still look fabulous.

Love it when people incorporate their pets like this!

There are so many lovely little details but then it is not an overload either: you can just tell the personality and the thought they put into their wedding.
And the photography is really sweet too. A great wedding. Wow!

Oh my goodness ~ her blowing the horn in his ear ~ priceless! And hello great dane PUPPY! I have always wanted a great dane as I feel that it would fit in perfectly in the land of tall people that I live in ;-))) Anyhow, tons of fabulous homemade details which to me always make a wedding so special. They seem like a such a fun couple and the photographers did a fabulous job capturing it! And I agree ~ Willow is such a lovely name!
