Silence - in honour of Japan and Christchurch...

Some fabulous fellow wedding bloggers, the ladies from Utterly Engaged and Lydia from Ever-Ours, have joined together and organised For Japan with Love, a fundraiser for earthquake and Tsunami relief. All of the donations from For Japan With Love will go to Shelterbox, which provides emergency shelter and lifesaving supplies for families around the world who are affected by disasters at the time when they need it the most. Each large, green ShelterBox is tailored to a disaster but typically contains a disaster relief tent for an extended family, blankets, water storage and purification equipment, cooking utensils, a stove, a basic tool kit, a children’s activity pack and other vital items.

Like so many others this week I've had a heavy heart and been feeling pretty uninspired and unmotivated. It's so very very hard to comprehend the sheer magnitude of the devastation that has occured in Japan and whilst I sit here in my lovely safe home, and look out to sunny skies I have to pull myself up for even daring to complain about the most trivial of things. The world becomes a very small place when events like this occur and not only are we thinking of people in Japan across the Pacific but also more locally we must not forget the people in Christchurch who are still living through the most awful of situations. Tomorrow I'll be taking a day of silence on the blog in honour of the people effected by the both the tragedy in Japan and in our own backyard of Christchurch. New Zealand is also holding a memorial day tomorrow so it's even more fitting.

Please join us this Friday March 18th in the Bloggers Day of Silence. My blog will be silent to honour and respect the devastation that has occurred in both Japan.

I know just how you feel-it's hard to feature pretty dresses and lovely flowers with something so devastating playing out in your mind and on the news. I'm just glad the fundraising has been such a success thus far!
