Good morning!! How are we this fine Monday morning? I hope you had a wonderful weekend! Mine was a mix of work, play, gardening, dog walking, and catching up on several episodes of Downton Abbey. Saturday was like a miserable winters day around here (minus the cold), so it was the perfect day to cosy up in front of the TV and try to free up some space on the ol' Sky box! I hadn't seen any of this series thus far, so I'm now all caught up bar one! And yesterday I managed to plant some lovely fragrant jasmine all down our driveway which I must admit is a very satisfying thing to be able to tick off the to-do list! I have such a treat for you today in the form of this amazing wedding from Croatia... a first here on Magnolia Rouge! I was so thrilled when Petar Jurica from PJ Photos sent this my way... it has me yearning to head back to Europe and explore these beautiful cities! I love that Ashley and Dan flew from New York to a place that held such fond memories for them... read on for the beautiful brides account of their day...
On one of our first vacations together as a couple, Dan and I spent a week exploring the island of Hvar – the food, the beaches, and of course the wine. On a sunny afternoon relaxing outside with a crisp glass of vino, we witnessed a beautiful wedding processional from St. Mary's Church throughout the town of Jelsa. We knew right then and there, when the time came, this is where we'd marry. Nearly eight years later, we made the journey back from bustling New York City to quaint Hvar in preparation for our own wedding. We wanted to encapsulate the “jet-set” style that dominates modern-day Hvar, while also relying heavily on local scents and flavors. We rented out the stunning Villa Heraclea for our ceremony and reception, inspired by its lush rosemary and lavender gardens, and ancient stone façade. We worked with Split florist, Dragona, to transform the garden into an elegant outdoor space for dining and socializing. Guests bonded over a formal dinner catered by renowned Hvar restaurant, Gariful, while listening to Motown hits throughout the night. After the cutting of the cake and having our first dance as a married couple (to the Beach Boys’ “Don’t Worry Baby”), we all took off for an after-party on the waterfront at Carpe Diem. We will never forget the week leading up to our wedding – being able to spend quality time with our friends and family in such a beautiful part of the world. The memories and stories will last a lifetime, and we’re thrilled to have been able to provide our friends and family with a trip they’d always remember.
