Waiheke Island Wedding by Jo Wickham...

I love it when I find out my clients have booked photographers I know and admire for their big day so I was thrilled when Jasmine told me they had the incredibly lovely Jo Wickham lined up. Jasmine & Matt's invitations have proved to be one of my most popular requested designs ever since, I've done several variations of it now. They got married at the always beautiful Mudbrick Vineyard over on Waiheke and their stunning flowers were from Leaf & Honey.

Kumeu Valley Estate wedding from Jo Wickham...

I have an absolutely gorgeous wedding from Jo Wickham for you today. Kate & Jeetan got married out at Kumeu Valley Estate which looks like a fabulous venue with lots of divine rustic touches. Kate collected vintage tea cups and saucers by spreading the word throughout her family, and before she knew it there were arriving from all corners of the world. Kate shares some thoughts on the day with us... including a fun proposal!!

We got engaged on safari in South Africa. I'm completely obsessed with big cats!! Jeets confessed after the proposal that he knew he couldn't do it until we'd spotted one of the big cats! He ended up proposing the night we saw two male lions eating a dead hippo - not everyone's cup of tea but I was in heaven! We celebrated with a glass of bubbles under the stars around a camp fire built just for us - it was magical!

For our wedding I wanted autumnal elegance and vintage quirk - it all kind of fell into place after finding the perfect rawness of timber and pitched ceilings, unkempt gardens and aged cobbled flooring at Kumeu Valley Estate. All the bits and pieces I'd been collecting were perfect on the surroundings.

 

 

 

We collected milk bottles, lavender, teacups, doilies... you name it, the ladies of the family were searching high and low for the perfect pieces. All the handwriting was tedious and gradually got more and more like my everyday gibberish - but I love the personal element that comes with the blood, sweat and tears. All the ladies also painstakingly hand sewed the paper bags filled with boiled sweets shut, we sat around the dining room table with a bottle of wine in the middle and laughed and told fantastic stories! It was such a nice way to spend time together reminiscing and building up excitement for the coming days.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Waiheke Island Wedding by Jo Wickham...

I have a sweet and lovely Waiheke Island wedding for this morning from Jo Wickham, sent in by Steph from Bubblerock Studios, who captured the day on film. Check out this amazing little snippet of the film... I'm loving the work that Steph and her husband Robin are putting out there. Whilst photography was my big spend, I regret not having a professional film made. This captures your wedding in an entirely different way, and if you have someone who can edit it in such a creative way it's a keepsake that you'll be looking over for years and years to come. From Steph.... Daniela and Matt met in London and decided to get married in Matt's home country: New Zealand. They planned their wedding from afar and Dany admitted on the day to have found a lot of inspiration on blogs such as Style Me Pretty, Ruffled, 100 Layers Cake and so on. With an evident vintage touch (amazing dress and a Jane Austen's style for her hair/make up), Dany created a beautiful vision for their wedding with white and soft yellow and pink accents, and incorporating a very peculiar aspect of their relationship: their love for apples (apparently Matt is such an apple eater: Dany had to have apples as a feature of their wedding and it was so beautifully integrated to their table centrepieces and boutonnieres by talented Vicki from Wildflower).

Dany also being from Germany, she incorporated her language into their ceremony; a ceremony that really fitted their loving, fun and peculiar personalities and relationship. A day full of love and laughter was had by all on Waiheke Island. And a wedding truly personal yet created with the help of the blogging community who inspired Dany throughout the planning process.
