Round up | Groom's Style

Often the boys get a little overlooked when it comes to this whole wedding planning bit! Especially on the fashion front. But no more I say!! I'm seeing more and more grooms really putting their own spin on their attire for the big day (or is this all the bride's doing?). Gone are the standard black suit and tie combos...well not exactly gone, but there are a lot more options in the mix. And it's not just the brides who are doing the mis-matched thing... check out these fancy groomsmen with their eclectic assortment of tweed, checks, bow ties, gingham and suspenders. I for one love it, but I do think it takes a certain groom to be able to pull this look off. However whether your man can or not, there are several ways to dress with a little more personality that what we've seen in years gone by. What are your thoughts? What would you like your groom to wear on the day?

Love these groomsmen in all white, just perfect for the calm zen you imagine with a Balinese wedding. And the seersucker... not a look I've seen much in New Zealand, but I think it's quite suited to our warm summer wedding days. Perfect for a relaxed beach wedding.


Love both of these for a fall wedding... the colours, the texture of tweed, the fun bouttonieres in the top one, and the hats! Love the hats!!


Suspenders are a big thing these days... from a more formal look to something more laid back and hipster, combined with gingham or a bow tie. Either way they score a big tick with me!

I am loving the groom and groomsmen in the bottom image... they look like they could be on an album cover! So hip it hurts!!
 
 
Waistcoats... again something we're more used to associating with quite a traditional look with a three piece suit, but I love the relaxed feeling of them with a rolled up shirt. And the hat just tops off the look perfectly! Dapper indeed!!

Round up | Statement Necklaces

Statement Necklaces have come and gone in fashion throughout the years, but generally for weddings brides have worn more subtle, delicate jewellery around the neck... a pearl necklace, simple solitaire or likewise. For the past couple of years however, the statement necklace has been making a big comeback and I for one am a huge fan! From more bridal shades of pearl, ivory and metallics right through to more vibrant shades of any colour under the sun. And you needn't spend an awful lot of money on this, there are so many fabulous options available out there these days. What do you think... would you wear one?

Round up | Romantic Canoe Photos

There is something ever so romantic about floating on the water with your loved one in a canoe or rowboat, and lately I've been seeing a lot of couples bringing this into their wedding photography - pretty sure The Notebook is responsible for this resurgence to a large extent!! Ryan Gosling in a rowboat is pretty inspiring right? Just last week we saw images of actress Amber Tamblyn arrive by canoe for their wedding ceremony, and as you can see in this round up plenty of couples are taking to the water to capture some fun and romantic moments. Although I'm quite sure some of these moments must end up as very candid falling in water shots too! If you're not quite brave enough to jump into a vessel on water, use it as part of your wedding decor like in the bottom image. Makes for a fun display or way to keep all your beverages cold... perfect for a outdoor or backyard wedding. So tell me would you go for a trip downstream to capture the perfect romantic canoe shot? I wouldn't hesitate!

Round up | Floral Crowns

We've seen quite the resurgence of floral crowns in the past 12-18 months. Both with fresh flowers and woven fabric varieties. What used to belong solely to a more 'hippie' bride, is now becoming more mainstream with so many varieties being displayed. It does lend itself perfectly to that slightly bohemian look, with a perfectly disheveled hair style. From simple ivy or daisy crowns, to more rustic displays with twigs, right down to elaborate floral creations, there is something to suit all kinds of weddings. Whilst it's always nice to have real blooms, it's not always that easy depending on the climate, and there are several pretty faux crowns around. I think the key is that is doesn't overwhelm your face. It needs to work with your dress, and face shape, otherwise you may end up looking swamped by it. Try Whichgoose, Twigs & Honey, Lo Boheme, Mignonne Handmade for a few options.

I adore both of these... mostly because their hairstyles are so perfect with the crown of choice. The one on the right is so perfectly imperfect... loose and flowing to give an ethereal look.

This blue crown is just so striking! And against her incredible hair colour it makes such a statement... a very pretty one!

Can't go wrong with soft romantic flowers.

These two are a little more on the dramatic side, and possible not quite as practical to wear but for sheer impact, they're winners!

Love the sweet simplicity of these ones. They have such a romance to them.

Love this sweet daisy chain one... reminds me of school days, and I'm a big fan of both kale and lambs ear so the right on the right is a favourite... love the texture in it.

And let's not forget about the little ones... I mean it just doesn't get any cuter right?
