Colour me Festive by MAGrouge

We asked four local florists to put together bouquets for a little festive colour story in our current issue of {MAG}rouge. Annie Oxborough, Claudia from Style etc, Orlando and Leaf & Honey all provided us with these pretty blooms in shades of yellow, cherry red and green. We also showcased how you can get creative with a couple of different print fabrics to bring together a bit of a story for your wedding. There are so many fun things to do with fabric, I loved how these little escort card pouches turned out. Super easy and they look so effective en masse when placed at the entrance to your wedding reception. Follow the fabric through to favour packaging, your invites and even a touch on the cake as you can see we've done here.

Scenic Chateau Wedding by Sutherland Kovach

I'm sure it'll come as no surprise to you that I absolutely love the work of my {MAG}rouge cohorts, Hannah & Jasmine of Sutherland Kovach, but I have to say that I think this wedding of theres is one of my favourites. I'm a sucker for majestic scenery and also a big fan of neutrals and texture, so this stunning National Park wedding at the Chateau ticks a lot of boxes for me. And it's somewhat ironic that I had this post scheduled for today given that the volcano you see in the clouds in the background of some of these shots has erupted literally overnight! Completely unexpectedly too.
I had the pleasure of staying at the Chateau only a few months back and it's such a grand old building, making for a great backdrop and venue for a wedding. I adore the photos of the girls frolicking in the tussock grass (very Sound of Music like!!), and the boys doing the handstands! So fun!

Feijoa Bridesmaids Brunch by {MAG}rouge

The concept behind our feature shoot in the recent issue of {MAG}rouge was a bride to be taking her best girlfriends to a lovely spot for lunch and then asking them to be her bridesmaids for her big day. The invitation presented to them was designed and printed onto a teatowel for a fun keep sake. We spent the day shooting out at Lothlorien which is a Feijoa Orchard out on a very long windy dusty road heading towards Helensville... this place was my kinda heaven!! Seriously it was gorgeous, I want to beg the family who own it to let me camp out there each summer!! The kinda place dreams are made of... we didn't actually know this before we turned up on the day so we really lucked out! And they were so kind to let us make ourselves and home for the day.

The fabulous Sutherland Kovach (or half the rougies to you and me!!) captured these stunning images, and naturally all the very tasty treats were provided by Judit. AND let's not forget that donut bunting - who doesn't want to take a giant bite out of it hanging in the tree? If you'd like the recipe for this head over to Judit's facebook page. The pretty 'bridesmaids' dresses were all courtesy of Ruche... aren't they all so sweet? A big thank you to our four models who put up with a chilly day in little dresses and still managed to look super cute. Our fabulous friend Sox Teng worked with us on hair & makeup. {MAG}rouge Issue 3 - the Harvest Issue - NOW LIVE!!

In case you were wondering why there was a bit of an interruption to posts this week, well it's because I was working on this little beauty!! All 300 pages of her!! Yikes... I said we wouldn't go over 200 last time... and we well and truly broke that rule. But it's 300 pages of stunning contributions from some amazing talents like Elizabeth Messina, The Wedding Chicks, Allyson Magda, Tec Petaja, White Wall Photography, Carmen & Ingo Photography, Danelle Bohane, Marta Locklear Photography, Annabella Charles, Haute Horticulture, Caught the Light, We are the Parsons, Tyler Branch, Aaron Delesie and more!!

A huge thank you to my fellow rougies; Judit Meron, Hannah Sutherland and Jasmine Kovach! And also to our hubbies for being utterly understanding of several late nights and takeout for dinner (well probably only in my case!!)

Day after the wedding BBQ Brunch

It seems to be becoming the norm that bride & grooms put on some sort of brunch or lunch or entertaining event the day after the wedding. And why not? So often these days guests have travelled a distance to attend the wedding, and they are friends and family you haven't seen for some time, so it makes sense to want to spend as much time with them as possible while they're all gathered together. If you're a couple who relish designing your wedding and getting creative with it, then having a casual daytime affair is an excuse to do something really fun. In the current issue of {MAG}rouge we created a beachside BBQ with a New England/Kiwi style affair, complete with prawns on the barbie, and candy floss of course :-)

Auckland Civic Theatre Wedding by Sutherland Kovach

This stunning wedding from my lovely friends and colleagues Sutherland Kovach is such a wedding of contrasts. From the fresh bright bridal part shots in Auckland Domain to the smoky drama of the venue there is something for everyone. Hannah & Adam chose the dramatic venue of Auckland’s Civic Theatre for their wedding. One of the last remaining atmospheric theatres in the world, it was built in 1929 and remains a true Auckland landmark delighting generations of the city’s residents since its construction. Hannah had extremely fond memories of going to matinee movies at the theatre as a young girl (and barely able to watch the film at times as she was too in awe of her incredible surroundings). She didn't think they catered for weddings and started to look elsewhere but a nagging voice got the better of her and she finally called them.

I'd say that was a call worth making cause it looks like an amazingly unique venue to get married in. Hannah and Adam describe their Art Deco-themed wedding as elegant, hilarious and fun! Their theme influenced the venue choice, stationery, the cake, jewelry, jazz music and bridal gown. The couple were inspired by Hannah’s love for the era, and the beautiful engagement ring that Adam had chosen for her.
