Board#212: Sweet Lemon

Well this week didn't quite go to plan!! It all started off fine, until I gave myself food poisoning... or picked up a bug but let's just say I've had a lot of enforced downtime. But the sort of downtime where you can't even concentrate enough to read a book or watch TV which isn't ideal. Hoping I feel 100% by the weekend! Tomorrow marks the start of spring in this part of the world, which is sooo exciting after a rainy winter. I'm ridiculously excited to see the trees starting to turn green, and flowers springing up... although I have to say our garden is suffering at the hands of Charlie a little bit so any plans to put anything new in may just have to go on hold for another year sadly! She loves to taunt us by pulling branches off trees and plants and then runs manically around the garden showing it off to us. Naughty pup!
How sweet is this board... full of subtle lemony yellow tones? And I love that it doesn't have to be overly full of colour... it's just a couple of touches here and there. Bring it into your table through some fabric, the fabulous statement necklace, and of course some delish lemony desserts!

Board#154: Vintage Sorbet

Morning lovelies!! I felt like something a bit bright and spring like today, and I think these muted sorbet colours are just the trick! I have a crazy busy week ahead getting jobs out and trying to work my way through my to-do list. I sat down and wrote it last night... breaking it up between home,  garden, business (split into blog, current jobs, letterpress, special project, special project 2, & accounts) and personal well being. Phew I have 94 things on that list! Daunting to say the least. Hopefully I can cross at least 5 of those items off today. Wish me luck!

Board#147: Dawning of Spring

Aside from the last 24 hours which has been downright rainy and miserable, spring got on to a fantastic start in Auckland. And what better time with such an influx on tourists here for the Rugby World Cup. We simply couldn't have asked for a more perfect day to hold the opening ceremony on Friday. It was quite spectacular. I found myself waking up on Saturday morning palpably excited at the thought of summer just around the corner. It's so exciting to see the trees get greener by the day and plants start to blossom. I know we don't notice it as much here as you do in colder areas, but I cling to what we do get. I'm almost obsessively checking our new trees (that we've only ever seen in their winter bareness) for any sign of life... the sap has risen I've been told!! Spring brings with it a whole new freshness so I had to create a board full of the freshest yellows and greens in keeping with the new spring in my step! Happy Monday folks xo

Board#131: Lemon Zest

Yay for long weekends!! And especially long weekends in winter that yield a stunner of a day like we had yesterday... it was seriously amazing... so warm and sunny and just down right beautiful. The beach was looking super lovely as was the countryside! So as it has me eagerly in the mood for spring I present you with a bright zesty board to kick start the week. Have a great Monday :-)

Board#50: Buttery Greens

Here we are... at Monday morning again... and the eve of June!! How did that happen?? Well the countdown is on for me, only 18 more sleeps until I'm off to the sunny isles of Hawaii!! It can't come soon enough. If anyone has some great tips and pointers for things to do and see I'd love to hear them! I haven't done a green board in quite some time and since it is only my favourite colour I thought it was about time. I love the fresh mix of the brighter emerald green with a green so soft it's almost buttery. Emerald is making a bit of a splash at the moment which I'm loving, it works great with a lot of other colours as well (although I'd avoid red unless you're going for a Christmas theme!!).
Have a great day and week people!

Board#17: Seafoam and Buttermilk

Oh how I love this colour combo....so pretty....and of course I just had to continue with my love affair with yellow! I'm hoping that if I 'think yellow' long enough, that big ball of it in the sky might make an appearance sometime this month (yup it's been that dire!). I think these colours lend themselves quite well to a whimsical affair, especially with those fantastic pinwheels! I love how the seafoam shade just tones the yellow down from being all together too sweet....a touch of grey in there would also be nice. And of course pitchers of lemonade - you can't go wrong!

It's all in the details...

Now this is my kind of wedding; rustic, organic, full of character and personality, and stylish to boot!! And it just goes to show that you really don't need to be super elaborate to create something fabulous. Who would have thought that simply using lemons could be so incredibly effective. Photography by the incredible Jose Villa, who has managed to capture the detail oh so perfectly.

Real Wedding: Daniel + Laura

I spotted this oh so gorgeous wedding over on Once Wed, and couldn't resist sharing it with you. Shot by Jose Villa, who has got to be one of the most creative photographers I have ever seen - seriously if I could I'd fly to the US and beg him to reshoot my wedding! - this has all the elements of a sweet country affair. I am loving anything with yellow in it these days, whether it be a warm buttery shade, a rich ochre or happy sunshiny lemony yellow (yes they are real words!). I just love how it 'pops' in a wedding and looks fabulous with so many colours. Reception details to follow soon...
Check out more of Jose Villas work on his website, and his blog which is FULL of fabulous images!
