Ruby Red Rose Wedding Centrepiece

I'm such a fan of the duo of Karin from Haute Horticulture and photographer Annabella Charles. They create the prettiest of floral studies. Wouldn't this make the most perfect centrepiece for a winter wedding?

Planted with Light shoot by Kate Robinson

I was thrilled to be a part of the Planted with Light workshop that the very lovely Kate Robinson held recently. I gave a brief chat about blogging (something I was VERY nervous about doing!!), and then styled a shoot for the participants to learn how Kate goes about shooting. It was such a fun day, both for the girls who attended... and learnt so much from Kate, and for us vendors who helped out. Kate's family were incredibly accommodating having us all out to their lovely place in the country and then supplying us with delicious food all day!! We had the gorgeous Claire Mossong and her hubby Alex model for us for the day (a side career to photography beckoning perhaps?) and Steph from Bubblerock was there to capture the day... be sure to check out this film before you scroll down.

New York Wedding by Jen Huang

Can you believe here we are at November already? Where on earth has 2012 gone? Christmas will be upon us before we know it and I still feel like I have so much to do before the year closes out. I'm hoping to try and take a few weeks of downtime over January which means a pretty busy lead up to Christmas itself. And of course I'm hoping by then the sun will be shining permanently!! Speaking of the weather I want to send my thoughts out to all of those who have suffered in the wake of Sandy in the Eastern US... such devastation is truly frightening to see, and my heart goes out to all of those who have been effected personally by it. Mother Nature is a powerful force never to be underestimated. Here's hoping for a swift recovery and clean up.

Onto prettier things... I've been such a fan of Jen Huang's amazing work for a long time now, so naturally I was pretty excited that we were able to feature one of her weddings in {MAG}rouge. Here's what Jen had to say about it.

"When Carol and Hua reached out to me to shoot their wedding, I was thrilled! A wedding at Blue Hill? Sure to be a stunning affair! But what I truly love about my couples is their deep devotion to each other while maintaining down to earth, laid back personalities and still producing a beautiful stylish wedding. And this was definitely the case for Carol and Hua!"

You can see more of this wedding and read all about it in the latest issue of {MAG}rouge

Festive Australian wedding by Alma Photography

I love the relaxed festival vibe of this Australian country wedding by Alma Photography, which was featured in the latest issue of {MAG}rouge.

When Alex and Laura decided on the location for their wedding, they dubbed it ‘Lovestock’. “We’re old souls, so it seemed natural to want a huge celebration in the middle of nowhere - much like a festival. It was all about the people we loved and making it an enjoyable experience for them. Nature, good food and wine, music, warmth, humor, love for the olden days - these things inspired us definitely, but we were (and still are) most inspired by the people in our lives.”

A very wise friend of the couple advised them to do exactly what they wanted - so they did. Alex and Laura’s wedding was a reflection of them in every way. “We looked to ourselves and the kind of life we lead and went from there. Everything felt very genuine and very honest.”

Alex shares this moment from the ceremony: “Laura and I were placing the rings on each others fingers. Laura was struggling to get mine on, and there was a bit of laughter from the crowd. Next thing you know about 20 or so Kookaburras in the trees above us joined in and wouldn’t stop laughing! This made the crowd laugh more and so there was a chorus of laughter all round. We felt like we had the whole universe’s blessing at that point.”

The couple advise others to go with the flow, to not get bogged down in details, and to trust that everything will work out. Choose your vendors wisely, be flexible, and ultimately, “go gently. With every wedding, something doesn’t go according to plan. But just be grateful that so many things do and enjoy those moments as they are the ones that you will remember.”

Colour me Festive by MAGrouge

We asked four local florists to put together bouquets for a little festive colour story in our current issue of {MAG}rouge. Annie Oxborough, Claudia from Style etc, Orlando and Leaf & Honey all provided us with these pretty blooms in shades of yellow, cherry red and green. We also showcased how you can get creative with a couple of different print fabrics to bring together a bit of a story for your wedding. There are so many fun things to do with fabric, I loved how these little escort card pouches turned out. Super easy and they look so effective en masse when placed at the entrance to your wedding reception. Follow the fabric through to favour packaging, your invites and even a touch on the cake as you can see we've done here.

Elegant Malibu wedding by Braedon Flynn

We were so thrilled to feature the beautiful work of Braedon Flynn in the most recent issue of {MAG}rouge. A team of amazing vendors brought this gorgeous event to fruition including the super talented team of Lisa Vorce of Oh, How Charming and Mindy Rice Floral Design... both of whose work has graced many a top magazine! Teresa’s beautiful gown is a Vera Wang, in keeping with the designer’s vibrant yet timeless aesthetic.

The color way - inspired by the very glamorous Coco Chanel - included creams, soft blacks, and hints of gold. The ceremony took place in the round on a beautiful lawn. Mindy Rice had a custom structure welded to support billowing curtains of a creamy-golden silk taffeta, that draped softly and romantically on all four corners.
