Board#218: Copper Tone

Morning all. Whilst we're moving (ever so slowly) towards summer here in New Zealand, a lot of you will be preparing for upcoming fall weddings in the Northern Hemisphere, or in the midst of planning for one in our autumn in 6 months. Rather than using a lot of warm reds and oranges, another option is to keep it neutral with plenty of texture, but still use very rich warm copper tones, with some burnt toffee and mocha shades. And of course a little pop of persimmon orange just lifts it a little. Extra yummy if you ask me!

Board#170: On Golden Sands

Beach weddings don't always have to be about blues or corals... I love the idea of using a neutral palette sprinkled with metallics to take a beach affair from casual to chic. And who says you can't wear a ruffly dress to your beach nuptials?

Copper & Amethyst Shoot with Sutherland Kovach

A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of styling a shoot with Hannah & Jasmine from Sutherland Kovach and Judit from Artisan Cakes, which recently featured on Style Me Pretty. The inspiration came from this board that I did some time ago, and really it was all about the gorgeous combination of the rich copper tones, with the pretty amethyst and lilac shades. Rather than the usual candy table I wanted to do something a little more organic and healthy and inspired by the stalls at farmers markets I filled burlap sacks with different nuts and dried fruits. Of course you still need to satisfy the sweet tooth to a point so it was interspersed with Judit's lovely sweet treats and the jaw-droppingly beautiful ruffle cake that she created for the shoot. It's actually quite a cost effective way to do it as well... bulk nuts and fruits are quite a lot cheaper than filling a whole table with candy and desserts!
I used one of my new designs for the stationery suite and as a little something different with the save-the-date invitations, Judit made it into a cookie!! Genius! Now tell me you wouldn't be a happy camper receiving an invite like that through the post? Our gorgeous model Je t'aime wore a beautiful lilac ruffle dress from Yvonne Bennetti, and the poor thing froze in the chilly winter air but it was worth it to get these stunning pics! Sutherland Kovach worked their magic once again, I was thrilled with how they captured the day.

Board#118: High Tea at the Ritz

Morning folks! It's been a while since I did a sweet and girly board so here it is... in all it's sugary prettiness (and to my relief it passed the husbands scrutiny, name and all... it's becoming quite the ritual with each board now!) Despite the fact that I used pink for my own wedding... which I now question as I've never really been a pink girl... it's just not a colour I instantly gravitate to, however mixed up as it is here with some earthy tones, then I'm a taker. And I also love it in a more vintage rose tone but that's another board all together. I see this board being not only wedding inspiration but the perfect springboard for a bridal shower. I had the privilege of experiencing High Tea at the Ritz in London on a few occasions and it's such a lovely experience and would be the perfect way to kickstart an afternoon with the girls.

Board#117: Marmalade & Brogues

Ok the husband is officially ditched when it comes to naming boards/invites (after being so helpful earlier in the week!!). He told me that this board was a bit of a mish-mash and it didn't make sense!! Hmmppf!! Boys! I argued that they didn't always have to make sense, it was about putting colour schemes together that you may not instantly think of. Sometimes they have a 'theme' or 'era' to them, other times it's simply a colour story that is meant to inspire further ideas. Do I sound defensive? Fancy him second guessing my work! Honestly! This from someone who had quite the debate with me once over a top I bought that I said was orange and he swore was red... he also thinks lobsters are red rather than coral... sorry but I think they're more coral/orange than red. Anyhoo.... I think I've said enough about this board... hopefully you can see past the mish-mash :-) Gotta love him!

Board#103: Birch & Birds Eggs

Do these colours get you guys as excited as they do me? It's just so rich and warm and inviting, it totally draws me in! I am crazy over those birch logs used as escort card holders... unfortunately we don't get a lot of birch around these parts... if we did I'd be using it for all sorts of home decor ideas. What do you think... is this a colour combo you'd go with for your wedding?

Board#79: Amethyst & Copper

Happy Monday! Hope you've had a nice relaxing weekend and are all ready for the week ahead! I've done a few spring boards lately and despite the fact that Sunday was finally a lovely warm day with some sunshine, today's board is all about the cosy again for those of you heading into fall. I was working on something over the weekend and ended up with this colour combo and it struck me as being so inviting. I would like to step right into this board, nestle in and make myself at home for a bit. So in love with that piano in the woods... and the antler chandelier (I'm trying to convince hubby we need one for the new house!) Another pairing of colours that work unexpectedly well together. Do you agree?

Coming up tomorrow - it's GIVEAWAY time!! Make sure you come and check it out and be in to win!
