Vintage Tea Party by Kate Grewal

Well hello there lovely readers!! How was your weekend? We had the loudest thunderstorm I've ever heard in my life on Friday night... it honestly sounded like someone had launched a rocket at the house! Thankfully it didn't seem to overly bother puppy Charlie, she didn't make a sound... although that didn't stop my hubs getting up at 1am to give her a cuddle and make sure she was ok!! We managed to catch up with some family, enjoyed a lovely evening with friends and had some chill time at home! Perfect!!

How gorgeous is this tea party shoot from Kate Grewal? I'm loving the sweet pale yellow dress, and oh that cake looks so good it's leaping out of the page begging me to taste it!

Dessert for two... a sweet engagement shoot by Laura Murray

Happy Friday everyone! I have the sweetest engagement shoot for you today from the very talented Laura Murray. Jessica - the owns Vintage Affair Rentals in Colorado and styled this super cute 'dessert for two' themed shoot for her and her fiance Greg. Jessica's Mum made the quilt and bunting for her and I would say by the looks of this there will be a lot of goodness in her wedding to come! Doesn't this look like the most romantic spot to partake in dessert for two? It certainly has me hankering after a sunny day in a field - wishful thinking around here right now... yesterday absolutely poured with rain ALL day long and today is forecast for more of the same :-(

Gin & Lemons Engagement Shoot by Vela Images...

I simply cannot believe that here we are on the last day of August already and hurtling towards summer (good thing) and Christmas (good thing but happy for it to take it's time getting here!). I feel like my next three months are already full up!! I have some super fun projects coming up which I'm sooo excited about, but it means for a busy busy me! (trust me I'm not complaining about that, just trying to work out how I can make it all happen and remain sane and still see my hubby every now and again!!) However hopefully help is at hand!
This is just the most fun engagement shoot from the fabulously talented Greta Kenyon of Vela Images. From Greta, "Shaye & Blair are getting married in November this year in the Bay of Plenty and for their engagement shoot they wanted to add a slight 1950's retro angle to it. Shaye being very much a foodie (she runs her own catering business) made the delightfully delicious lemon cup cakes and macarons. They also decided to add the couples favourite drink to the shoot, Gin and tonic, which not only tied in beautifully with the cup cakes and macarons but it also helped to calm the nerves in front of the camera!"
Ha... kinda love that idea of having a drink on the shoot to relax yourself... I bet you guys would be far more willing to comply with a shoot if you mentioned a tipple or two!

Board#136: A picnic in the woods...

Morning folks... how are we all this fine Monday morning? It's getting a bit too cool here for picnics and I know we generally think of them for spring and summer time but don't you think an autumn picnic would also be lovely... of course taking provisions for the cooler weather? I love the idea of a picnic wedding, and I think to have a rustic style one in autumn would be such a novel idea. You could have the ceremony around an open fire, make smores and roast marshmallows as part of the evenings events, provide your guests with cosy wraps and blankets to sit on for the ceremony, have a hot chocolate station... so many ways to make it inviting for your guests.

Sneak Peek: Picnic Shoot

A few weeks ago I had the honour of meeting Sofia & Andre of the always impressive Brancoprata team from Portugal. They were here to shoot the wedding of Steph from Bubblerock, and whilst their time was extremely stretched we didn't want to let the opportunity slip to get together and have a little fun. To say it was incredibly rushed and we were unprepared would be a bit of an understatement... and the elements were against us with a crazy windy day, but in the end we surrendered to it, made the most of what little we had and had a fun afternoon in the park. This is a little sneak peek of it and there are a couple more over on Steph and Sofia's blogs. I had such a blast working with you all and it was fabulous to meet fellow bloggers from the other side of the globe!!

Board#58: Ribbons & Hammocks

Welcome to another week.....I hope you all had a lovely weekend. It was a gorgeous winter weekend in these parts and we spent Sunday going for a lovely walk on the local beach.....I realise we are so lucky to have this on our doorstep (literally too at the moment!) but trust me, I never take it for granted and it never gets old.
We have some gorgeous real weddings lined up this week and a couple of backyard wedding inspiration boards as per request from Joy & Me. First up, an unformal picnic style with vibrant colour, fun bbq fare, and some chill out zones for your guests to mix and mingle in. And of course if your pets can't be a staring feature in your own backyard wedding, well when can they be! What would you do for your backyard wedding?

Board#31: Flowers & Fields

Another Monday....another picnic themed boarded. Well it is summer afterall....or at least it is in certain parts of the country ;-) If you missed the bright cherry picnic board from a few weeks back check it out here. I would love to be spending my Monday this way; in a hammock, good book in hand, jugs of fresh squeezed lemonade at the ready (moving into a Pimms for later in the afternoon!), bit of an afternoon siesta....bliss. But back to reality, work to churn out, invoicing to get done and quotes to do.
I love the idea of a wedding that doesn't try too hard and just comes together organically...and that's what I think of when I look at this board. Throw some food together (yeah I know it's THAT easy!!), handpick some pretty flowers, throw on a stunning dress - just because it's casual and relaxed you don't have to miss out on this part - and make sure you've invited your nearest and dearest...a simply heartfelt celebration. That's what your guests are going to remember and be talking about long after they've dissected the table decor; the love between you and the commitment you make to each other.
Here's to a great week!

Board#29: Gingham & Summer Fruits

Happy Monday everyone! Since we are enjoying some fabulous summer weather here at the moment, I thought we'd kick off the new year with a bright, playful summery affair. I love the idea of a informal picnic wedding, with the emphasis on having your closest family and friends around you to share in your special day. Forgo all the formal seating arrangements and set up picnic tables with breakout areas of blankets and large comfy pillows. Serve platters of finger food, cold meats and fresh fruit or put on a beach bbq. Fill mason jars with freshly picked garden flowers, string up lanterns between trees and arrange some beach cricket or croquet for your guests pleasure while you have your photos taken. It's all about fun and creating that memorable day out with your nearest and dearest. And for your dress.....well I picture something easy to wear with a romantic tone, perhaps an empire line floaty style, nothing too structured. Maybe even a barefoot bride dare I say.
