Board#174: A Winters Beauty

Whilst I wouldn't describe myself as a 'winter girl' and I'm not sure that I could live somewhere that had heavy snow for months on end (I did it for one winter and that was enough!!), there is no denying that winter has a certain romantic element to it that is very appealing. Especially a fresh snow fall that turns everything it touches to magic. So getting married in this environment would be rather special I think, especially if you had a cute and cozy little place to stay in whilst getting ready or to honeymoon in. Nothing like an open fire and toasting marshmallows to get the romance element up! Would do you think... would you have a winter wedding?

Burlap & Knits shoot by Brumley & Wells

I'm thrilled to bring the gorgeousness of this shoot by Brumley & Wells to you this Saturday morning!! If you're a burlap loving, texture mad chick like myself, then this will suit you right down to the ground. No it's not a wedding or an engagement shoot but it's utterly inspiring nonetheless! And so gorgeously pretty!! Annie from Brumley & Wells lets us in on the inspiration behind the shoot... and how clever is she having made the scarf and leg warmers herself... not to mention putting the teepee together!

"With winter nudging me indoors, I had been on an unreasonable crafting spree. I crocheted the dusk grey scarf and oversized leg warmers and added some of my pet dove's feathers to a headpiece I made a few months back. I had been itching to build a teepee because of some beautiful inspiration I found on pinterest. One of our art students was over to work on a project, and he ended up building it with me. It takes only 25 dollars and 30 minutes to make this teepee! The light I hang inside of it is a ball jar covered in burlap, with christmas lights shoved inside. The moccasins, Breyer deer, oversized shirt, stirrup belt and the fringe on the teepee were all items I've thrifted over the last year. The bulky ring is actually an antler ring in it's rough stage. Jake makes these with a dremel tool. My engagement ring was a finished, polished antler ring with "agape" engraved in it. I love it! I realized that all of these things that were sitting around my house would make an incredible styled shoot. All I had to do was wait for a dreamy, overcast day.
Elizabeth was a perfect model for this shoot, and I had a blast doing her hair and makeup while she totally took over my iPod. Jake and I were thrilled with the way all of the details turned out, and forgot about the cold just long enough to capture these images. Enjoy!"

Board #127: Feathers & Lace

Here we are at Monday morning again!! Did you have a nice weekend? Yesterday was a gorgeous warm autumn day here, which was lovely after all the rain we've had lately. Perfect chance to get out in the garden and tidy it up for winter. It actually got really hot out there. Wouldn't this colour scheme be perfect for a cozy winter wedding? I just love that flower arrangement with the feathers and the subtle touch of red in it. It seems to me like it would take pride of place in a hunting lodge... which I think would make for the most amazing winter wedding venue, imagine the fun you could have with that 'theme'. Here's hoping your week is off to a good, productive start!

Board#125: Cabin in the Woods

Morning everyone! Hope you all had an enjoyable weekend? Ours was busy... full of socialising and lots of eating!! Can't complain about that. It wasn't until I finished this board and looked at it thinking... hmm, there really isn't a whole lot of wedding in this. BUT, I don't think inspiration always comes in such a literal sense. Sometimes it can be from the most random of sources, and may simply be a colour you see in a magazine, or some lace you see on tablecloth or the way something is arranged in a shop window. I can totally look at this board and imagine a cozy winter wedding with lots of candle light, warm wraps for the bridesmaids, an open fire, mulled wine... you get the picture. So don't restrict yourselves to just wedding magazines, blogs, bridal images... look all around you, you never know what may spark the look for your big day.

Board#112: Great Gatsby

Morning!! Here we are at Monday morning again! I hope you all had a fabulous weekend... mine was great.. thanks for asking :-) A very satisfying weekend with lots achieved which is always a good way to kick start the week... even some hardcore (that's a stretch!!) gardening in the rain!! Whilst we're still a fair way of winter with the rainy weekend we've just had, I had a glimpse of what's in store for us in a few months and this board just makes me thing of a cozy rainy winter afternoon in a gorgeous old English mansion, with an open fire roaring, men smoking cigars, women dressed up to the nines... you get the picture. It's the rich colours and the detailed carpets... would be such a fabulous colour scheme for a winter wedding!

Board#105: Nordic Dreaming

Isn't this the loveliest colour combo for a winter wedding? Using a more mustard shade of yellow is perfect for the cooler months. And how sweet are those little cake toppers!! Hope you all have  fabulous Friday... I know I will :-) Shopping in Melbourne today!!

Board#28: Pinecones & Berries

As promised a more wedding related board with a Christmas accent to it - obviously for those getting married in winter not in the lovely warm weather we have now. I know red is often used in winter weddings and for good reason to brighten everything up, but I think it would be nice for a bit of a difference to add a pale aquamarine as well, which has such an ethereal quality with against a snowy backdrop. Of course I would love to see pinecones dotted throughout; they lend such a fabulous texture to everything, and you really can't go past an open fire and candles littered throughout both the ceremony and reception, but rather than a dark cozy affair keep it light with white linens and a cherry red - berries throughout your floral arrangements, and then scatter with accents of the pale blue; tie your napkins with a pale blue ribbon, find a printed fabric to cover your vases with, or instead of choosing a white gown, install a bit of colour with the palest of blues. Most importantly have fun and stay warm.

Board#10: Winter Wonderland

There is something wonderfully magical about a winter wedding. Not to mention tres romantique! A few must haves for me would be a roaring fire, sumptuous table settings with berries and branches, flickering candlelight, and a beautiful (fake) fur wrap to keep me warm. And then of course a honeymoon in the sun!
What would you have for your dream winter wedding?
