Real Wedding: Theresa + Matt

I'm thrilled to have another of the lovely Jody Lidstone's weddings up today. She is such a sweet girl and with oodles of talent to match it's a great combination! Theresa & Matt got married at the ever popular Mantells in Mt Eden, the venue being high up on their priority list. I love it when I see that couples have really thought about what's important to them on the day. For some it's all about the photography, for others the food and wine is the defining part of the day - well aside from those little vows! Whatever it is for you, don't think you have to spend an awful lot of money on a cake because most people do or provide favours for all your guests; prioritise the things that mean the most to you as a couple and focus on those. There are plenty of ways to have those less important features and still have them fit your budget. Theresa explains below how she worked her way around this...

We decided the most important elements were venue, dress (of course), photographer and having everyone we wanted there. Cars for example were muchlower on our list and we managed to borrow ones that were stylish but simple. The cake was not a priority for us either and we chose a cheaper, simple cake that we dressed up ourselves. The two small Maori dolls on top set it off perfectly and created lots of laughs. We also created our own playlists on the Ipod, which meant we were able to listen to exactly what we wanted for free! We had our wedding on a Thursday evening which meant suppliers were negotiable with price.

What was the inspiration for your wedding?
We were always keen on a cocktail style wedding. We wanted the day to not only be about our love for each other but for everyone to celebrate together by mixing and mingling. We also built in elements of our favourite things for example the beach where we had our photos at, good quality food and wine and great music.

Mantells in Mt Eden fitted our requirements perfectly....style, elegance and class

More coming up shortly...
