Tell us about finding your wedding dress:
Coti was a well-known wedding dress designer from South Africa & emigrated into NZ leaving her business behind. I got to know her in my workplace & as soon as I discovered she could make wedding dresses I approached her in regards to making mine. The wedding dress design itself was inspired by my going home the previous April for my Grandfathers funeral my close family & I were going through the old photographs when I asked who was that – a stunningly dressed lady from the 50’s with a simple & chic silhouetted outfit. This was my mother’s aunty who was never seen without looking her best wearing the latest outfit waring accessories of a hat, gloves and umbrella.
What was the inspiration for your wedding?
We knew we did not want a conventional church wedding we both enjoy being out in nature & felt that being outside was right for us. When we found Wenderholm we knew it was right for us. It has the perfect mix of true Kiwi Nature with the pohutukawa trees the Sun Sea Sand & BBQ’s mixed with the British Colonial architecture of Cauldrey house. From that we then decided the mix of Kiwinana & British was a good theme to base our wedding on.
Describe your wedding flowers:
The flowers were soft and pretty vintage blooms, delicate in form and design so to complement the dress, the tables were a vintage inspired country style theme, flowers as if picked from the garden sitting in an eclectic mix of retro cups saucers, old Asian drinks cans with cut crystal vases for the pieces & brandy crystal glasses used as tea lights all displayed on mirrors.
