Magnolia Rouge does Elegant Decay #2 | Blog around the world

I have something a little bit fun and different on the blog today and on several of the blogs of my blogging buddies around the world (ok seriously that sentence was all kinds of wrong!)... the first 'blog around the wedding world' feature - kinda like a chain letter :-) Every 15 minutes there will be a new post on one of the blogs listed below (in order of time) each of us giving our own spin/advice/tips on entertaining, culminating with the creators Check out some of the other blogs... you may stumble across a new and fabulous find! of the project at the end showcasing their fabulous work! I am No 2 in the chain...to start from the beginning head here.

So, entertaining... we all have our little things that we put more effort into with it... whether it be the food, the wine, the flowers or how you set your table... ways of putting your stamp on it. I've always loved to dress the table up and I think it's nice as a guest to feel like the host has gone to a little bit of effort for you. Of course being a lover of all things paper I have to send out invitations to any event I'm having and an email invitation really just doesn't cut the mustard! As well as invitations, there are several ways to use paper goods even with just a small dinner party and most people these days have a home printer so it doesn't need to be complicated. Print a small menu to roll up and tie with ribbon or fabric, make up cocktail menus to display if you're having a party, print guest names onto paper to wrap around the napkins at their place setting, or use printed paper to wrap vases in to bring a bit of pattern and texture to your table. You could even make placemats out of some fabulous printed paper. But as is the point of Aleah & Nick's shoot (image below) it's all about having a good time, and enjoying the people in your life. It doesn't have to look perfect, and it certainly won't when all is said and done, but the beauty is in the imperfection of it... and I'm sure the more imperfect your table looks at the end of the night, the more successful evening of entertaining you've had!!

Personal touches are truly the best. You're absolutely right that as a guest it's nice to see that the host has gone to a little bit of effort for you. Fabulous post, Kate!

I agree with you Kate. We tend to forget how important little details can be and how we can make people feel special just with a little stationery, name tag, menu... You name it. I shall follow your advice!
