Board#114: Wheat Fields

Like most people around the world I have been glued to the TV this weekend in utter shock at the devastating images we're seeing coming out of Japan. After our own local tragedy in Christchurch only a few short weeks ago, I had reached saturation point of reading and watching about it as I found it so upsetting, however I feel guilty at even thinking or saying that as the people suffering through it don't have the option of simply turning off the TV or closing the paper... they're in a living nightmare 24/7. For the first time in months on Saturday I simply didn't have it in me to put a post up, it just didn't feel right looking through pretty pictures that seem so frivolous and trivial as such a time as this, and inspiration has certainly been hard to come by over the past few days. I know everyone goes through times when they're not feeling inspired and sometimes it feels as though it won't come back but I'm sure it will in it's own good time! Thankfully I have a few backup posts which takes the pressure off :-) I hope that despite the catastrophic world events, this brings a little sunshine to your day! Sending all my thoughts out to those in Japan.

I think your words sum up what so many feel - a struggle between dealing with the destruction and continuing to create beautiful inspiration. Great post and lovely board.

I love this board. It is perfect with Autumn almost here in New Zealand. There is something about it that just draws me in!

It's been a hard start of 2011. A bittersweet year so far... So much love and destruction.

I agree with Steph. There has been so much good mixed with so much tragedy. We should all be grateful for what we have....
I do adore this board, Kate. It makes me smile :)

What happened is truly heartbreaking and I understand where your coming from.

the board is lovely as ever. the rich maroon works perfectly with the golden wheat.

I totally understand how you feel! I am struggling with being creative right now too. It seems that everywhere you go you are constantly reminded of the devestation and destruction. It just breaks my heart!

Aunt Millie's brother's son (if you can follow that) lived in a town in Japan for 13 yrs teaching English ~ he sent pictures to Aunt Millie of the town before and after and you can't help but cry and cry. Nothing is left ~ nothing and it is completely mindboggling to think that in a matter or seconds a whole town can be wiped of the face of this earth and with it lives, families, memories, love, friends...argh!!!

However, I think this board is perfection! Really, it is. It is homey, and cozy and reminds me to enjoy the simple things in life ~ a handwritten note, a walk in the park, a bike ride with your honey, and a cup of tea!!! All things that we might take for granted for the most part, but all things that remind us just how truly lucky and blessed we are to be able to do these things. I LOVE it sweetie!!!

xoxo
