Inspiration Shoot from Simply Fabulous Events & Design...

We have a shoot with a bit of a difference today. Sent in by Lisa Gilbertson from Simply Fabulous Events & Design, and captured by Red Bird Hills, the inspiration behind this shoot was to have brides think outside the box when searching for their dress, flowers, and even venues for their nuptials and/or reception. I've gotta say I'm loving the moodiness of these pictures with the fantastic props... and those dresses are just gorgeous!! Lisa shares more about her inspiration for the shoot with us...

I started with what my company calls the ‘Dream to Reality Board’ . Within this board, I really wanted to capture the essence of what colors, design, and textures we wanted throughout the shoot. I contacted designer Kate Towers of Portland, professed my love of her custom dresses and she offered to ship her dress to Minneapolis. During the shoot we swapped amazing Badgley Mischka pumps and cowboy boots throughout the day for fun. One of my favorite hair and makeup designers to work with for my Brides is Emily Olson. With the dress and florals being the focal point, we wanted our Bride to look dewy and natural, complete with a fishtail braid that would later be taken out for a fresh, romantic look. From there we brought in the talent of ‘Minnesota Bride Best-Of 2011 Florist Nominee’ Ashley Fox from Ashley Fox Designs to create some amazing blooms with punches of color. My oh my, did she deliver. The Bride’s floral bouquet and mantel blooms consisted of fuchsia peonies, spray roses, black tulips, ranunculus, jasmine, black calla lilies, and salal leaves.

Upon researching for a unique venue, I was able to get our shoot access to Architectural Antiques in Minneapolis. Filled with chandeliers, doors, stained glass, and church fixtures, it was inspiration heaven. The best part is that this business opens its doors to weddings and receptions of intimate numbers giving a truly unique option to Brides and Grooms for their wedding day. At the end of the day Red Bird Hills created the most stunning photos and we just cannot get enough of them!!
