Orchard Wedding Shoot by Coralee & Alex...

Holy toledo!! How is it that we're half way through the year already? It's downright frightening I tell ya! I'm loving all the fabulous local weddings I've been featuring on here lately, it's great to see so much talent coming out of little ol' NZ! And none more so than Coralee & Alex who shot this beautiful wedding of their friends this past summer. Alex shares his take on the day with us...

We had been looking forward to Suzie and Michael's wedding for the entire summer. Not only did we have a few locations up our sleeves we were particularly excited about, but Suzie and Michael are also both friends of ours whom we have known long before they were even a couple. In fact, come to think of it, we were even there to photograph the moment Michael proposed! Friends and family packed St Mark's church in Remuera to its rafters where Suzie and Michael were married before everyone headed out to the beautiful Allely House in Kumeu for the reception. We'd had this crazy idea that it would be fun to take the bridal party out into one of Kumeu's many orchards for some location shots, but getting permission to visit one was harder than we thought. Most orchard owners weren't that interested in having a group of fancily dressed people traipsing among their trees on the weekends. Luckily, we found an amazing old orchard owner who was as friendly and as cheerful as can be. Not only did he welcome us onto his property, but he invited us in for tea, pointed us in the direction of the best apples... and sent us home with buckets of fruit after our location scout a few days earlier. A highlight of the day was surely when the bride, groom and their bridal party laid out a picnic spread under rows of apple trees and ate and relaxed and laughed as only best friends can. It was the most sunny of summer's days so a quaint little country lane nearby provided some respite from the heat before we headed with the bridal party to Allely House where everybody celebrated the night away.
