Cute eclectic New Zealand wedding by Sarah McEvoy

Boy oh boy am I glad the sun is shining today!! Trying to toilet train a puppy outside in the incessant rain we've had most of the week is really quite challening!! Charlie and I have managed to have a good long play outside in the sun this morning so I think her world is a pretty happy one today.  She also had great fun chasing her shadow (although that may have been more amusing for me!) And I'm loving all the puppy cuddles throughout the day!! I posted a photo on facebook earlier if you want to see the latest.

I'm delighted to be featuring the work of Sarah McEvoy this morning, with Anna & Todd's New Years Eve Wedding that took place in Todd's parents garden in Nelson.

From Sarah: From a photographers point of view you couldn't really ask for more. Anna and I had been emailing each other for months before the day, sending each other links to wedding blog posts. So the whole thing felt like a collaboration and I had a great understanding of how she wanted me to capture the emotions and moments of the day. As Anna and Todd live in Brisbane and I was in Wellington, with the wedding being held in Nelson, we didn't all finally meet each other till the morning of the wedding. Nelson had been experiencing floods and landslips in the weeks preceding, and I had been anxiously checking met-service everyday for a week before hand, but we were fortunate to have mild, overcast weather all day, with only a few spots of drizzle. They were amazing, gorgeous, happy, beautiful, in love people. It was New Years Eve and we were made to feel so welcome and included in the days celebration. Such a fantastic experience, and really what being a wedding photographer is all about.

From Anna: Our personalized eclectic theme began with ‘the murfs’ handcrafted invitation set and flowed through with a light and airy vintage feel throughout the detailing. We wanted each guest to feel the personal touch, which we gave with a hand punched seating name on a vintage teaspoon. My dream dress was designed and created by my beautiful sister. One of my dear brothers made our beautiful words that effortlessly floated above us during the ceremony. I was so happy to include my late grandparents by having their china plates made into tiered platters.

Our party favour 50c mixtures went down a treat and were a reminder of what was a love when we first got together. Our Kombi vans are a dream we’ve both always shared, and a symbol of the free sprit travels we experienced together.

The warming of the rings ceremony was a special moment, as both our grandparents and parents blessed our rings, which were then passed to us by our youngest family members. The day was our ‘fairytale’ with each guest playing his or her ‘part’. From the flowers, cake, music, table settings, dress-ups, seafood, and so much more. It was the bringing together of our talented friends and family that made the day our ‘happily ever after’.

A big thank-you to Sarah and Jenn for being the most amazing ‘flies on the wall’. You captured everything and more!"
