Greta from Vela Images* always captures the most gorgeous of details at her weddings and this deco inspired wedding in Cambridge is no exception. Love all the prettiness going on with those flowers! And that ring.... I die!! Sam and Anna were close friends of Greta's so who better to tell us about the day than the lovely lady herself...
The wedding of Sam & Anna...where do I begin? I don’t normally play favourites but this is one wedding which will stand out in my memory of weddings as being one of the best weddings I have EVER shot for so many reasons...
Firstly the deco styling was executed to unique perfection with every little detail from the vintage bridesmaid dresses and the gorgeous Corina Snow gown (Corina designs the best deco style wedding dresses I have seen) right through to the dainty and detailed table settings. I have photographed lots of vintage weddings this season which have all been divine, but it was the use of colour which really set this deco style wedding apart from others. Not many brides are brave or bold enough to combine pinks, oranges, yellows and greens all into the same setting on their wedding day. But this is exactly what Anna did. And just like in real life there was a method to her madness, carefully selected hues and eclectic pieces all pulled together to create a consistent, elegant and stylish wedding theme like no other. A true reflection of Anna's personality.
Anna and Sam, both being country folk at heart, choose to wed on Anna’s family farm in Cambridge in a marquee on the tennis court. The day was stormy, rainy, windy and then blissfully sunny just in time for the ceremony and celebrations.
Sam, the groom found his dapper suit at Crane Brothers and he opted for a mid grey to compliment Anna's cream and beige gown. The feature cake was made by Devoney from Sugar Mama and the couple designed and inscribed their own wedding rings.
But amazing details aside, the main reason that this wedding will always stand out from others in my memory is because Anna & Sam, the stunning bride and groom are amazing, special friends. Not just your average everyday type friends but friends I have lived with, travelled with, partied with, laughed with (a lot!) and grown with. And what’s even better is that they were both friends separately in their own right and then they decided to fall in love and get married. Two of your coolest friends marrying each other! It really doesn’t get much better than that. Thank you Anna & Sam, I will always be so honoured that you choose me to photograph your amazing wedding day.
