Elegant and Sophisticated Wedding by Kate MacPherson

Ahhh I'm so thrilled to have yet another delightful Kate MacPherson masterpiece on the blog today! Isn't her work just so utterly dreamy? I'm so in love with the brides gorgeous dress from A la Robe, those pretty croqueted capped sleeves (sorry not sure if that's the correct terminology!!) are to die for.

Jared and I have been together for over 10 years and for the most part really did not think that we could deal with a wedding in front of people! We were always more comfortable with the idea of eloping. But after much thought we knew that with our closest friends and family we would have an amazing time. And we did.

We decided to have our pictures taken before the 3.30pm ceremony. Our photographer Kate picked Jared and I up and off we went to Red rocks on the south coast - and put up with freezing gale force winds! We got some amazing images though and we were prepared to scale part way up the mountain to get them. I had trailed my dress through algae puddles and so in the car on the way to the ceremony we stopped and bought some baby wipes and bottled water and all 3 of us proceeded to scrub away. By that stage I really didn't care about the dress and just wanted to get married!

We walked up the aisle together to a cover of Portishead's Glory Box by John Martyn. That felt amazing, hand in hand, just like we've been for the last decade. We wrote our own vows and tried hard not to totally lose it and really start blubbering!

We decided against wedding favours, allocated seating or table numbers, no cake, no formal speeches (just impromptu ones!) and really anything that we found unnecessary to the meaning of the day. Foxglove put on an amazing spread of food and huge selection of wine and whiskey. We had Jared's uncles band play through out the night and we ended up leaving the venue happy at 3.30am.

We left most of the planning of the wedding until 1- 2 months before (except for the photographer and my dress). This helped us to really relax and focus on the most important part of the day - the ceremony.
