A fairytale wedding in the forest by Sweet Little Photographs

Happy Monday!! Did you have a lovely weekend? My hubby has gone back to work today so it's time to get back to routine!! Charlie is sulking as she loved having him home... truth be told so did I. We've had the loveliest couple of weeks on our 'staycation' and I kinda didn't want it to end... although I do need to spend some time getting work done now! Anyway I have the cutest of cutest weddings to kick start the week...

I fell in love with the work of Tim & Merrill from Sweet Little Photographs work a while back, and I'm so excited to share one of their weddings with you today! Especially as it's just so dang adorable!! Held in the giant Redwood Forests around Los Gatos in California this wedding is a little bit like a fairy tale... a treehouse, the cutest little cottage you ever did see (reminds me of something from Hansel & Gretel!), ponds, lakes... honestly this place looks like my kinda dream location!

Lisa and Z - or Zisa if you go by their 'celebrity moniker' - are both graphic designers and I think it's pretty obvious looking at all the cute details in their wedding. I'm loving the groom and groomsmen attire as well... great combos!

Once Upon a Time Inspiration Board...

I had the honour of guest posting over on Glamour & Grace last week with this board inspired by the fairytale like Herb & Daisy shoot we did for {MAG}rouge. I imagine lots of fun and playful food options like the cute gingerbread house we had. Daisies add such a homegrown whimsical touch; incorporate them into your bouquet with other garden picked blooms, or have little pots of them dotted on the tables. There is so much inspiration to be found in the amazing illustrations of the books of our childhoods, perhaps use your favourite one for to kick start the creative process.

The ballad of Herb & Daisy by {MAG}rouge

The ballad of Herb & Daisy was the brain child of Hannah & Jasmine from Sutherland Kovach and of course half of the {MAG}rouge team. This was our feature shoot for Issue two of the magazine and we were so thrilled with how it turned out, we found the perfect log cabin only a few hundred metres up the road from my house, and the gorgeous field right opposite. And then once our fabulous models were confirmed, we knew we'd get the result we were after. Real life couple, Cam & Eliza were amazing to work with, and whilst they were visiting New Zealand from Australia over a long weekend for a wedding, the actually took time out to come and work with us for the day. And aren't they just the perfect Herb & Daisy? Cam is even a musician which played into our hands well considering the concept was Herb singing Daisy a love ballad! Or playing it on an accordion perhaps!
We worked with some fabulous talents on this shoot... Sox Teng did the gorgeous makeup on Eliza (aka Daisy!), Annie Oxborough - florist super talent - provided us with the most delightfully rustic bouquet as well as a fabulous garland for the log cabin, Steph from Bubblerock, spent the day with us and captured the most charming film of the shoot. Please be sure to check it out at the end of the shoot ... it's just lovely! Daisy's beautiful dress was from A la Robe and Herb's attire was from Rodd & Gunn... I'm such a fan of the suspenders!! And the cute as cute school chairs are from The Vitrine which has an incredible assortment of vintage industrial furniture to both buy and rent.
That incredible cake and gingerbread house you see... naturally made by the one and only Judit Meron (chief hostess with the mostess rougie herself!!), and all stunning photography by Sutherland Kovach. Stationery of course by myself... see Ruby & Willow for more. Head to page 39 of the magazine to see the full shoot and full credits.

Whimsical Woodlands themed wedding by Rachael Kelly...

This wedding seriously puts the 'w' into whimsical. I had a good ol' chuckle when I first saw these images sent in from Rachael Kelly, they're so fun! And how game were the entire bridal party to don these amazing masks? I love how each one has got into character for their photo. Super super cute!!! Bridget & Aaron were very hands on, doing a lot of DIY and all the table decor themselves... what an amazing job they did!

Board#151: Woodland Whimsy

Good morning!! Did you all have a nice weekend? I know it's Tuesday but I'm getting lost in the days at the moment. This past week has been mentally busy and by the weekend I was so tired I had to catch up on some much needed sleep to recoup!! Besides that there were some very important rugby games that had to be watched... I'm already very nervous about the upcoming game this Saturday!!
I have had this board sitting around for EVER and I'm really not sure why I haven't posted it before as it's one of my favourite looks. I love the eclectic and rustic nature of it. It's all a bit rambling and mis matched which adds up to the perfect look in my books! Nothing is overdone, it's a little rough around the edges like nature intended!! And rather than go for all earthy colours, by bringing in a touch of the lavender or lilac shades it adds just the right amount of pretty to it!! Right kids I've gotta get back to it, but hopefully I manage a few more posts this week!!

Whimsical Baby Shower

How are we all this Monday morning? It has been the most sublime weather here this weekend, we've been spoilt with an amazing summer so far. I had one of those super productive weekends where as well as catching up with family, having a date night with the husband, and spending some time outdoors I also managed to tick a few things off my to-do list so I'm a happy camper starting off the week. Rain is forecast for the next few days and dare I say it's almost welcome in my household if for the garden only... but also cause it's a damn sight easier to sit in my office and work than it is looking out at a gloriously sunny day!
I know some of you may have seen this last week on Courtney's fabulous entertaining blog Pizzazzerie (and if you're not familiar with it be sure to check it out as it's full of wonderful parties, dessert displays and entertaining advise.) however for those who didn't, I threw one of my bestest friends a baby shower recently and today is hopefully a very timely day to share it with you, as fingers crossed baby is arriving!!! I didn't want to do the typical blue/pink baby theme as it's not really my style and as we didn't know the baby's sex and I was given free reign to do whatever I liked... well I went for modern whimsy! The entire look stemmed from the invitation I designed, and from there the very brilliant Judit Meron from Artisan cakes created all the fabulous treats you see before you. I have to say that on the day no one took the onesies from the tree as they didn't realise they were edible! But they were a hit! New Zealand brides, be sure to check out Judit's work.... it's AMAZING!! And believe me I knew that well before I'd demolished my 40th macaron!! The cute as cute photos were beautifully captured by my lovely friend Greta from Vela Images.... go and check out more of her gorgeous work on her blog too. By sheer coincidence my niece turned up wearing an outfit that co-ordinated perfectly so she had a great time being a model with all the sweets! And those gorgeous flowers you see were kindly created by Annie Oxborough from Me, Myself and I. Thanks so much to the fabulous ladies who helped me on this!

Board#81: Cider & Grapefruit

Happy Monday to everyone!! Hope you had a good weekend? Did anyone attend any 10.10.10 weddings? Well we made some progress on the house front and have ticked a washing machine and fridge off the list... not the most fun items to buy but unfortunately two of the most essential!
So what do you think of when you look at today's board? To me in conjures up a fun, whimsical, outdoor wedding, when the weather is just starting to turn. Add cute cardigans to your bridesmaids dresses for a fun change up for photos (and of course to keep them warm!), serve warm cider and seat guests on hay bales in a cosy barn or farm shed perhaps. Use lot of wood rounds for display and fill mason jars with hand picked bloom in warm fall colours. Add in some emerald to brighten it up. And don't forget to send me an invite :-)
I've decided that Monday mornings are unproductive for me so to ease me into the week I'm heading for a coffee with these lovely ladies! Have a good one people!

Today's the last day to enter the Notecard giveaway - I'll make it end of Monday US time since most entries have been international (come on Kiwis.... aren't you thankful for something??). Head over and leave your comments here

Board#73: Homespun Whimsy

Welcome to another week!! I am in mourning today after a certain tennis player lost a certain match yesterday. I am somewhat obsessed with one Roger Federer and as my friends and family know, I literally shut down unless he all but thrashes his opponent (please don't ask me about the game or mention it). Childish I know, weird - highly possible (ok totally weird!), but hey we all have our vices right? It really got my Sunday off to a bad start! But let's look forward to a brighter week...
Today I have another fun springtime inspiration board for you. Red and Yellow conjurs up quite a whimsical look to me, and definitely an outdoor garden style wedding. Whilst I would probably never personally wear it as a combination I'm completely in love with the cute Anthropologie outfit top left. I think you would want to use these colours in moderation, but still have fun with them. Striped straws, paper pinwheels, mismatched fabrics, all conjur up a playful whimsical soiree. What do you think, is it a combo you'd use?
