Real Wedding: Mon-Wei + Blair

I'm loving the pop of colour in today's real wedding sent in by Emma Hughes. And as yesterday was the official start of summer - and boy did it feel like it with 99% humidity!! - I thought we'd kick start it with some colour.
Mon-Wei and Blair got married at on Onetangi Beach on Waiheke Island and followed it up with a reception at The Dunes. In keeping with the relaxed beach atmosphere, the bridesmaids went barefoot and the men folk dressed in jandels (flips flops). With a palette of greens, whites and tans, they added a touch of colour with the flowers and bridesmaids dresses... and it's accents the neutrals beautifully! Mon-Wei tells us a bit about how they met...and the proposal.

"Blair and I met in Japan at orientation for a company that we were working for as English language instructors. He was sitting behind me and my flatmates at the session. Afterward it was all over, I targeted him, inviting him out with some others for drinks. We tried to see as much of each other as we could despite living about an hour plus train-ride away from each other in Tokyo. I was overly homesick and went back to the States after six months – so, it was long distance for about a year and a half with some visits thrown in between. I finally moved to New Zealand. So it was all commitment even before the legal commitment!"

The proposal -

We were in Queenstown on the observation deck at the Skyline Restaurant which looks out over the town and the lake. After dinner we decided to check out the night view...it was just the two of us outside...and it was FREEZING. I was trying to rush Blair back inside, but he obviously had other plans. He got down and one knee and asked – I couldn’t believe it...it was really an unexpected and most wonderful surprise.

Check back in later for Part II and more details from the bride.
