Real Wedding: Mon-Wei + Blair II

We are featuring one of Emma Hughes lovely Waiheke Weddings today, with such a fun summery colour scheme. The sweet and simple flowers were done by Takapuna Wholesalers - great option if you're working within a limited budget but not a limited style! Mon-Wei has been kind enough to share some further details of their day with us:

I was shocked that the stores in Auckland would charge me for trying on dresses, plus all of the prices were through the roof, so I planned to buy my dress back in the States. I went with my mom and sister and hit David’s Bridal – it is a huge franchise in the States – a one-stop shop for all bridal wear. I found my dress after two sessions and paid about $1100 NZD.

Describe your wedding flowers-
I wanted the flowers to be romantic and not oversized like you see some bouquets (which saves on $$$ as well). I carried a bouquet of white, cream and green blooms and buds, while the girls carried orange and white flowers. The orange was a nice complement with their green dresses and added a little kick. Even though I was asked what flowers I loved most and disliked the most by the florist, I had no answers – I let the florist do her thing and it worked our perfectly.

Describe your wedding cake-
The wedding cake was made by my mother-in-law...chocolate Kahlua. It was delish!

Favourite detail of the day-
I had some of my regular jewellery on hand to wear, but my mum, who hadn’t said anything about it, brought her vintage pearl earrings she wore on her wedding day for me to wear on mine.

Part III coming soon.....
