Real Wedding: Sonya + Nick Part I

For our first real wedding feature of the year I'm delighted to bring you another gorgeous wedding from Kate MacPherson. Held at The Winehouse and Kitchen in Gibbston - not far from Queenstown, Sonya & Nick's wedding has such a fresh, clean and inviting look about it. I love the way all the subtle colours blend in perfectly with the stunning scenery that you literally can't escape from down there (and honestly why would you want to?), and I think Sonya's quote "everything felt just right" sums up exactly how you should feel about your wedding day. It should feel just right, it's about the two of you as a couple first and foremost. And it would seem that Kate MacPherson has captured the essence of their day perfectly as always, these are just stunning photos. Keep reading below for some details from the bride and tune in later for more loveliness from this wedding.

How did you meet?

At University (over an eppendorf incubator.)
Tell us about your proposal:
In Paris, after dinner we walked along the banks of the Seine. Nick proposed on the Pont Neuf with the lights of the Eiffel tower blinking in the distance (it was too cold to walk all the way there!)
Tell us about finding your wedding dress:
A patient I was looking after recommended Jane Yeh and a sale came up the same weekend. I tried 6 dresses, none felt as beautiful as this one, I thought about it for one day, tried to talk myself out of it,tried it it on one more time, took one look at my bridesmaid Sarah who was helping me and knew the decision was made.
What was the inspiration for your wedding?
Arrowtown was a beautiful holiday destination for many years for Nicks family, and as soon as we walked into the Winehouse and Kitchen we knew it was right for us. It is a great location, with amazing food and wine and we found all of the staff so approachable it made our wedding planning a joy rather than a chore. Chris the chef was on the same wavelength as us and makes incredibly good food, it really was perfect.
