Real Wedding: Claire + Brad II

Today's gorgeous feature wedding by Kate MacPherson took place at Mantells in Auckland - popular venue that one! Make sure you check out all the loveliness of the first post. These very sweet flowers here were from Flowers on Franklin which is one of my favourite florists in Auckland; they always produce beautiful things. You'll see more detail on them in the post following this one, but that sweet blue flower is called Blue Tweedia - a new one to me! I'll let the lovely bride Claire tell you about some further details....

Any DIY/Budget elements?
Brad wishes there were more!
Describe your wedding flowers:
An organically styled elegant bouquet of Sweet Peas, Roses, Hydrangeas, Gardenia and Lisianthus - in soft creams and whites – tied with long ribbon from my dress fabric. The bridesmaids had the same mix in a garden styled posy with the addition of Blue Tweedia accents. Groomsmen had a sleek and simple ivory Spray Rose. Brad wore a small cluster of Blue Hydrangea and Blue Tweedia blooms to off-set his ivory suit.
Favourite detail of the day?
The marriage ceremony was emotional and personal with Brad’s Dad (a Celebrant) taking the service, a hand-written poem from my mother and a gorgeous reading from a friend. From a decor point of view it would be the 1920s champagne glasses and dessert table with vintage trio cups, cut crystal glassware and hand-made cupcakes.
What advise would you give out to someone planning their wedding?
Immerse yourself into the experience. A wedding can be a gorgeous creative thing that you share together to express your personal style. Have fun with it, don’t let it get stressful and keep bringing it back to you as a couple. The day goes so quickly, so saviour the details and enjoy every moment of the lead-up you can, it’s such an amazing time of your life.
Most memorable moment?
Claire: Brad singing ‘It had to be you’ karaoke style to open up his speech, it was way out of this comfort zone and he totally floored me and the guests by pulling that one out of the bag...
Brad: Our string trio playing Goldigger (tongue-in-cheek) for the recessional walk.
What’s next for you as a couple?
Continuing our life and travels from London.
