Wedding Trend: Macarons

My day was made yesterday when a cute little package turned up on my doorstep from the lovely ladies of J'aime les macarons. These tasty little morsels have exploded onto the wedding scene over the last year or two, and if you're thinking of the more commonly known coconut macaroon think again. These are a traditional French pastry, dating back to the 18th century. They make for fantastic favours or pretty displays en masse for candy/lolly displays. Amanda and Bridget started selling macarons at the Riccarton Farmers market before opening up the J'aime les macarons shop in Christchurch. The offer a range of delicious flavours of which I have now sampled most!!! Vanilla is leading the way but I'm yet to try coconut or licorice which sounds divine!! The come in the cutest little box and almost look to good to eat...but really you can hardly let them go to waste right?
For anyone in the Christchurch area tomorrow is macaron day so be sure to pop by and pick up a gift for someone special - oh, did I mention they come in the cutest little box?
Thanks girls!!

Love Macarons! I first discovered them in Paris 8 years ago. Love them so much more than the coconut macaroons!
