Wedding Trend: Fruitful flowers

I like things that are a little imperfect (a lot like me!!); some girls love a perfectly round bouquet of roses....me? An eclectic assortment of blooms that have plenty of texture and almost have a hand picked look is more my thing. A little bit rambling, a lot rustic and very imperfect! I think that's why I like the idea of combining fruit with your flowers - whether in your bouquet itself or just for the table centrepieces. It brings a different element of texture to the look. And it can be very kind on the budget to deck out your tables using fruit rather than all flowers. We've seen plenty of tall vases filled with apples, lemons and the like, and whilst I do love them enmasse, they also look lovely tucked amongst various flowers as seen in these images. Or even used as vessels....squash vases anyone? Use fruit to line your ceremony aisle (works best with an outdoor wedding!), display favour cards, use as favours even. My favourites? Artichokes for their incredible sculptural appeal, berries for the colour and sheer prettiness, and sugared lemons like this beautiful one from A Hana Design (top left). And at the end of the night, when the food has run out....well....head for the centrepiece!!!
