Real Wedding: Carla + Joakim III

One more post for todays wedding sent in by Nikki Meyer...how much do I love that laid back setting... a whole lot is the answer!! Carla's dress was by Elizabeth Stockenstrom, and the stunning florals were by Chocolate Blossom. Thanks to Carla & Joakim for sharing their lovely day with us.

Most memorable moment?
For me it was when Joakim pulled me away from all the aunts and uncles and long lost family members that were trying to talk to me. He took me to the back of the garden to see the party from a distance, all the people were chatting, laughing or dancing under the ambient light of the Chinese lanterns. He held me in his arms and said, “Look, Babe, this is OUR wedding.”
What’s next for you as a couple?
We moved into our small but beautiful flat. Both of us are back at work. We would love to go to Denmark in the near future, so I can see where Joakim grew up and went to school.
Anything other details that help tell the story of your day?
One of the guests said that our wedding was the perfect fusion of cultures – and what a fusion of cultures it was! Afrikaans, English and Danish traditions were all combined. I walked down the isle to an Afrikaans song played on the violin, Joakim’s sisters wrote a song about us that all the guests sang together (a Danish tradition) and they also made a short video about the two of us, showing memorable pictures from our childhoods and of us as a couple. There were Afrikaans and Enlgish speeches and traditional Danish toasts. We also played English, Afrikaans, Swedish and Danish dance music.
