Real Wedding: Emma + Brett Part III

A little more eye candy for the afternoon viewers!! If you missed the earlier posts of this sweet wedding from Nicole Marsden see here and here.

Favourite detail of the day:
Our ceremony was very emotional with the Bride’s father taking the vows and a poem read to us by the Groom’s mother. What really made the day special though was simply having all our loved ones together in one place to celebrate our commitment to each other. All the months of planning, upsets, stress and alterations are truly worth it when you see how happy everyone is and knowing you have so much support & love.
What advise would you give out to someone planning their wedding?
Deep breaths! When everything becomes a whirlwind and you are trying to please everyone, take a moment to focus on what is important and understand some things are out of your control. Our inspiration was a ‘sunny, garden wedding’ and we had rain throughout our wedding day! Plan accordingly (lots of umbrellas and a basket of colour pashminas for guests) and then just enjoy it! What was important was that Brett & I got married that day and the weather was secondary!
Most memorable moment?
Standing in the foyer of the little country church and hearing the first strands of our wedding music float down the aisle (The Answer by Sarah McLachlin). Entering the church & seeing each other for the first time and the feeling of overwhelming love will be with us forever and it’s a moment that coming flooding back everytime we listen to that song.
What’s next for you as a couple?
Living in Wellington and enjoying being back in close proximity to our family & friends after living overseas for the past 5 years.
Anything other details that help tell the story of your day.

I wore my Mother’s veil that had also been worn by my sister on her wedding day. My Mother & Nana had both made special items for me (a bible & a gown hanger) from pieces from her own wedding dress that will become heirloom pieces for our family in years to come. What made the day truly special was having our niece Lucy (2 years) & Max (6 years) involved as our flower girl & pageboy – such innocence and hilarity really breaks the tension and brings a smile to everyone!

Emma & Brett - thanks for sharing your beautiful day with us. I wish you all the best for a happy future together!
