Great Gatsby inspired wedding by Marie Ramos...

There really is nothing nicer than getting an email from a reader who wants to share their images on my blog... and especially so when it's a wedding as pretty as this. Corinne & Tom got married at a time of very heightened emotion being it was a few days after the Christchurch earthquake hit earlier this year. The wedding captured by Marie Ramos was held at Summerlees Cottage (which looks like such a gorgeous venue) in the southern highlands of NSW, Australia, but with Tom being from Christchurch they were expecting guests to fly in. Thankfully most could. I love that they took their inspiration from a painting, and also that they went for a cocktail hour rather than a seating dinner... so very refined!!  I also think that the little ones in this wedding came very close to stealing the show! Corinne shares more details on their day with us...

We did the majority of the wedding DIY, we really wanted to have the whole celebration outdoors and very informal and drew our inspiration from Renoir's the Luncheon of the Boating Party painting and The Great Gatsby - Summerlees Cottage is where we decided on, it was love at first sight and the grounds of Summerlees speak for themselves so we decided to do very minimal decorating and created a space that was made and decorated with love, everything was out on the lawn in front of the 1920's ballroom, lanterns and light bulbs were hung in rows from trees and over the dance floor, a heart garland which was made with lots of love (and a few pin pricks) by my Mum, sister and I, was used as a very loved backdrop for our ceremony. We decided on a cocktail reception so that we were able to enjoy all of our guests company and not feel the pinch of a sit down meal, we had tables and chairs scattered around the lawn with handmade table runners of gold thread with old mason jars as centre pieces containing gorgeous bouquets which looked as though they'd be freshly picked from the garden along with a single tealight to give each table a bit of ambiance, Tom's Aunty was our florist and did such an incredible job with lots of helping hands to create just the look we were after -we also made a photo booth where I sewed the backdrop using the same material as the runners as well as a damask material I borrowed vintage suitcases, cameras (which still work mind you) and even a gramophone to use as props along with old chalk slates and fun party props so that our guests to have a little fun and write us notes for our special day. A very good friend of mine even let me borrow his very loved and adored old Vauxhall which created a lot of fun photos. We had encouraged our guests to dress gastby-esq which went down a treat and everyone went to so much effort and the end result was just amazing, it really was everything that we had hoped of and more.

Ever single one of our suppliers had such an integral part of creating the day that we had dreamed of and were such an amazing group of ladies and I feel very privileged to have meet and worked with, Gloria Grady who is a dress maker in Canberra made my Charlotte Balbier inspired wedding dress along with my bridesmaids dresses where we pulled in the lace from my dress as the sleeves and waist band on theirs, Christine Waring was my amazing Milliner and brought to life my drawings and idea of my headpiece, Marie Ramos was my ever amazing makes me want to cry every time I look at the photos - photographer who I just can't recommend and compliment enough :) Yvette Van Schie from Ethix made all of my girls and I look and feel like the most beautiful people in the world, my Mum looked so incredibly beautiful that it reduced me to tears, Clare who is one of Yvettes Hair Stylist created the impossible with my hair, Patty from Summerlees is definitely the hostess with the mos-test!!! Meg our florist from Foothill Flowers in Darfield NZ created such special boutiques that I never wanted to throw out..

My daughter and niece were our very very special flower girls who had such a ball running around in their little tutu monde creations!!

I honestly thought at one point that it couldn't be a real wedding: it was too 'perfect'... but no, it is a real wedding: and it is beautiful! Absolutely romantic and pretty!

Okay you had me at Great Gatsby! It was my favorite book that we had to read in highschool, and I adored the movie too! Just watched it again about 6 months ago...oh what a story! So yes, I love this wedding. Her dress is just fabulous...and the kids do steal the show ;-)))
