Real Wedding: Lara + Hendré

Before I launch into today's eye candy, I just want say a huge, HUGE, thank you to all the wonderful guest bloggers I had looking after this place while I was in warmer shores!! I appreciate how busy you are all with your own businesses so your generosity and creativity was greatly welcomed!! I've returned with the mother of all head colds and have hardly left the house or the couch since arriving back. According to some it's payback for having a lovely warm break in the midst of winter!! Mmmm.
Right back to the sick bed for me where I'll be reminiscing about those delish watermelon cocktails I was drinking this time last week!!

Today's gorgeous wedding comes from South Africa courtesy of the super lovely Nikki Meyer. You can see her own stunning wedding we featured on the blog a while back, and previous weddings here and here. I love reading about how couples originally met and it's especially sweet when they've known each other all their lives as is the case for Lara & Hendré who met on Lara's first day of primary school (I think I just heard the collective 'awwww'). Fast forward 14 years they ended up working at the same company and fell in love. And looking at her ear to ear smile in the photos below it's there for all of us to see. So so pretty!

Tell us about your proposal:
We went to Greece for a summer holiday in June 2009. Our first stop was Athens. On the day of our arrival, 17 June 2009, we went for supper at a restaurant on top of a hill in the middle of Athens, called Lycabettus Hill. We had a great supper while watching the sun set on a hot summer’s night. While making our way down the hill, Hendré pretended to bump his toe against a rock lying in the pathway. I turned around to find him on his one knee holding my engagement ring! I immediately said yes!!!!!
Tell us about finding your wedding dress:

I went to a bridal fair and saw Elizabeth’s wedding dresses which were a mixture of classic and contemporary. I immediately loved her style and I knew that I had found the right designer. Elizabeth helped me in finding out exactly how I wanted my dress to look as well as choosing the right material. The dress was ivory coloured with exquisite imported lace. It was the most beautiful dress I had ever seen and I felt like a princess in it.
What was the inspiration for your wedding?

We wanted something which was romantic and vintage but had a contemporary feel.

Yup, it's pretty cool. It's good to see a fellow photog getting her wedding spot-on!
