What's your wedding style? XXI
Happy Friday people, I hope you've had a good week. It's been a well and truly rainy week here which I've gotta say, I'm getting a little fed up with. Some sunshine would be most welcome about now. And for those of you in Canterbury, I really hope the earth stops shaking soon enough for you. Gosh it's just crazy the amount of continuing aftershocks. Scary stuff indeed!
This morning we have another in our Wedding Style series, a mini snippet of colour inspiration with some of our invitations to match. Click here to see previous posts or head to our facebook page to see them all in one gallery.

What's your wedding style? XX
Good morning lovely people... end of the week, the weekend is nigh! Do you have any nice plans? I for one, am looking forward to indulging in a good coffee... I'm on a bit of a health kick and staying off it during the week... oh, the pain! It's about as much fun as it sounds. But a hazelnut latte a day is not my friend! So Saturday morning comes and I'm out of the house in a shot with my tongue hanging out. It's the small things don't you know!

So a bit of warm fall/autumn inspiration for you this Friday. How cute is that sunny little wreath on the tree? Love those little details.

Wow, we are hurtling our way towards August in a hurry aren't we!! Which is fantastic news for those of us downunder as it means spring is here in a few shorts weeks... yeah that may be slightly optimistic but pays to be on the side of hope right? Cause that means summer is just a hop, skip and a jump away... which brings Christmas... which brings me to the point in a round about way! Which is... red and green. Conjurs up all sorts of Chrismassy images right? And whilst there ain't nothing wrong with some good ol' Christmasness (yip, new word!) it's not really the look or impression you're wanting for your wedding, but change up the green to a sage or a lovely chartreuse and you're onto a winner.... or so I think... as demonstrated below. What do you think... are you in or not?

It's Friday folks......woo-hoo we've made it through another week together. For me it's been a short one... I've just returned from a mini-break to the South Island where I spent time with this lovely lady. I think everyone in this industry - or any creative industry I imagine, sometimes gets a bit lost or you find you're lacking motivation for whatever reason (winter anyone??), and often all it takes it a good long chat over polenta fries to a fellow creative to set you back on the straight and narrow or at least get those juices flowing again. You feel fully refreshed and ready to head straight back into things, and most importantly you support each other - which in this industry where so many of us work alone in our business, is invaluable and treasured.
So today's little mini inspiration board... I'm loving this pretty colour combination, mind you throw a brown in with anything and I'm all over it. But it's super sweet with the lilac and honeydew mixed in there... perfect for a springtime wedding. To see other inspiration boards in this series click here.

Happy Friday people!! Hope you have some nice plans for the weekend? We will be watching the rugby with some friends on Saturday night but apart from that no plans so nice and relaxing. Are you loving these colours as much as I am? It just screams feminine but fun to me. Rich, jewel tones = yum!

I wasn't going to post this today but as it's still 4th of July week and well the colours are red, white and blue, it's going up today. Love how summery and happy these colours look!

I've gotta say I'm not always the biggest fan of black with a strong colour, I much prefer it with muted tones, like her with a pale apricot, almost shell or nude tone. I makes me thing 'boudoir' - not sure why? But I do love this combo together - it's very girly but oh so elegant and refined.

We've paired it with our Beaulieu invitation suite from the Classic Album.

Today I thought I'd revive the 'what's your wedding style' series - little snippets of inspiration boards matched up to Ruby & Willow stationery - more by colour than anything else. If you're relatively new to Magnolia Rouge and you wanna see previous posts in this series click here. And they're now all loaded in a Facebook album so you can see them all in one place. Head over and 'like us' (yes I feel very naff saying that!!) on Facebook to keep updated.
Have a great Friday everyone!

I adore this colour combination, it's so fun and fresh for a spring or summer wedding.

How is it possible that Friday rolled around so quickly!! Guess that happens when you're spending your days going back and forth between two houses, packing, cleaning, sorting etc, before I know it the day is over and I haven't even made a dent in my to-do list. Oh well there's always next week right. Or at least the weekend for moi this week!
Bit of a different colour combo for today's board. Fresh, cheerful and modern, this would make for a fun wedding. I love the idea of using vegetables and fruit mixed in with natural foliage for centrepieces. There are so many options and they can lend a different textural element to your bouquet. Not to mention they're rather more budget friendly! I quite fancy this tomato red for a change from the usual red you see used for weddings.

I don't get too many requests to do invites in red, have only ever done a handful (why is that?). It works well with so many contrasting colours and here it's paired with greens and mustards in a selection of designs from both our Signature Collection and Custom Design.

What's your wedding style? XII
Our first 'What's your wedding style?" series for 2010. If you're new to Magnolia Rouge, these are just little mini snippets of inspiration with some of our stationery to match. To check out some of the previous posts click here. So we're kick starting this years board with a little country style! Like I've said....or rather harked on about....I love a good ol' rustic wedding and if I could do it all over again I couldn't go past that fabulous barn with the curtains - which I know has featured heavily in blogging world but hey, when something is that good, use and reuse! I'm also smitten with the sawn log for a cake stand, and anything that involves burlap and twine...I'm all over it. To keep it all from looking a bit drab use lots of fresh white, or accent it with a colour. For a more wintery style wedding I love a burnt orange or a warm curry yellow.

I've done a number of invitations using twine. Combined with corrugated or woven card it gives a truly rustic appeal but it works equally well with a simple invitation on white or combined with a print. Follow though with it on the tables, and wrap your napkins/menus in it, add personalised handwritten name tags or messages and your look will start to come together. To see these invites and more check out our custom gallery.

With only two weeks to go until Christmas, I hope you're all a little more organised that I am!! Next week's my week! This is the cutest colour combination, I love it. It was inspired by Mon-Wei and Blair's real wedding that we featured last week here, here and here. To see more of our mini snippets of inspiration go here. And if you want to be in to win a copy of the latest NZ Weddings magazine don't forget to leave your comment here by Tuesday.

What's your wedding style X
Well it's a wet and wild day here today....not pleasant at all for the first week of summer. I hope wherever you are the weather is being a touch kinder to you! Still it doesn't stop us dreaming of lovely summery weddings does it? This colour combo was sparked off as I drove past a clothing store last week with a fabulous teal tulle dress with a cute pink sash around it, and it hit me that it was a fantastic colour way for a wedding. Very fun, whimsical, girly and pretty! Check out previous post in this series here.

A selection of our Signature Collection designs in colours to match the above board. Peony, Plume and Orange Blossom, all of which look oh so sweet in this colour scheme.

Woohoo, we've made it through another week! Can you believe Christmas is in 4 weeks? Scary. I haven't given it so much as a passing thought so I can see it's all going to be a bit last minute! And today I'd also like to wish a very Happy Thanksgiving to all our US readers!
So you've gotta love the colours going on in this board right? Opulent and rich and pretty all at once. Would make for a stunning autumn wedding me thinks. Loving the purple with that pop of chartreuse green. If you'd like to see our previous Wedding Style posts click here.

What's your wedding style VIII
Yeah, we've made it to another Friday! I hope you all have an exciting weekend planned. I have an afternoon of Pimms, sunshine, friends & family planned, followed by a New Moon outing tomorrow! What a line up....can't wait!
Today's little colour snap feature...wait for it...yes yellow (aren't you over it yet you may ask!). Well frankly no. Previously I've paired it with slate and ash grey's but it's equally as lovely with a warm donkey brown shade. This would make a nice palette for any time of year really. Freshen it up with lots of ivory/white for spring and summer weddings, or deepen the tones for fall and winter soirees. Either way you're onto a winner in my eyes.

As I'm sure you've gathered by now I do love to combine patterns so this is a recurring theme in my work, and of course envelope liners are my current crush! There's a couple of new designs below that are yet to make an appearance on the website...one of these days when I get some spare time (!) perhaps. You can always email me to get a round up of new designs.

What's your wedding style? VII
Happy Friday everyone.....my lovely husband has booked us into a quaint beachside spot for the weekend with some good friends...very spontaneously I might add so I'm more than a little impressed. It's the only way to stop me working.... physically remove me from my office. It'll be a much needed break, after a fairly non-stop month. I plan to visit the always fabulous Matakana farmers markets, get creative with my camera, stroll the beach in bare feet, and then put them up to read a book (I have to admit to trying to resist reading New Moon before the movie comes out!).
Anyway I digress...this weeks board was inspired by this beautiful wedding by Carrie Patterson. I know I say this every time, but I really do love this colourway. It's honestly one of my faves - of course it includes green so we're all happy!

I've paired with it an assortment of invitations from the Ruby & Willow Signature Collection. Hard to pick my favourite....what's yours?

What's your wedding style? VI
Oooo I am so loving these colours right now!! Reminds me of picnics and strawberry jam (yes I know obvious....red!) but it's all very inviting. Now if only that sun would come out to play! I have to admit I prefer most colours accents with a chocolate brown or taupe as opposed to strong black....but then ask anyone who know's me and I am rather obsessed with brown & natural. Always have been, always will be. It just works with everything! The red here is such a warm contrast to the neutrals.....I love it with hessian, rustic hemp string, and ticking cloth. And we all know that I love me a rustic affair!!

This is a custom design folded invite we did some time ago. We don't do too many folded card styles but I do love it with the contemporary belly band which contrasts so nicely with the quite classic invitation featuring a handdrawn rose. Again we've mixed it up combining patterns and the use of the lattice pattern ties in nicely with the rose/garden theme. And the piece de resistance....that fabulous B which followed through to all the day of stationery as well. For more stationery go here.

If you're just joining us check out the rest of our 'What's your Wedding Style' series here. Mini snippets of colour and inspiration with stationery to match!

We've gone all girly today's with a feast of pretty botanical invitations. Flowers feature heavily in wedding invitations, and the use of vintage style etchings is a style I'm particularly fond of. I like the unexpected addition of the ochre/pale gold in this board. Whilst the pink and burgundy go well with the grey, the goldy tones give it a lighter dimesion. Who says you can't mix gold and silver right? There are no rules when it comes to colour as long as you do it right!! And that basket of wraps - who wouldn't be thrilled to turn up to a wedding and have that to snuggle up with in the evening... I know I would!

What's your wedding style? IV
Phew, have made it to Friday..... it's been THE busiest week with no end in sight right now. Don't get me wrong, it's fantastic to have all this work on but with a long weekend ahead and with the promise of some sun, I really want to have a whole day off and get out amongst it! Which means I must. be. super. productive!! And hey another reason to celebrate....we've made it to 100 posts! Our first milestone!

I've think neutral colours like taupe, sand, and donkey grey look gorgeous with all colours but it's particularly nice paired with tones of blue. For this as well as the duck-egg blue you often see it with, it's nice to have a bolder shade thrown into the mix as well. To see more style boards like this click here. This vintage style invitation is a new addition to our Signature Collection - just hasn't quite made it onto the website yet!

What's your wedding style? III
It's Friday (yeah!!) which means it's time for another installment in our "What's your Wedding Style" series....if you missed our earlier ones check them out here and here. So surprise, surprise it's more yellow....in keeping with my 'colour of the moment'! I've said it before, yellow really can go with almost any colour if you pick the right shade, but it's uber popular with grey, white and black at the moment. Rather than use a bright sunshiny yellow it's nice to tone it down a little and use a more buttery shade.

I've paired it with a contemporary design featuring a vintage lace pattern combined with a repeating pattern in a pale grey. Yellow envelopes add a very modern touch, and a custom drawn map completes the look. For the reception, escort cards feature again to make a striking visual display. For more stationery like this and other designs go here.
